It was a wintery day and I had gone for trekking with half a dozen of people. Many of them were from my office, I left my house at 5 in the morning and traveled 3 hours to reach to the foothills We gathered there at around 8-8:30 and had our breakfast. We initiated the trek at around 9:30 in the morning.
It took us 3 and half hours to travel to the summit which was around 8 km from the the start point. At 2 pm we started our our return journey, and the beginning of an entire new chapter,
Going down we lost out track, but kept going foreword and didn’t look back.We reached at a point where we couldn’t move on and we decided not to return coz too much time was gone. One person saw a shortcut path and said to the foothill it will lead, and wasting no time we all decided to proceed. There we reached to valley and no road ahead, and every way ended as if it was dead.Every way we saw only led to totter, and by this we were out of waterWe decided it’s no time to become a hero, and one of us dialed 1 0 0.Getting down at then difficult it seem, as we were contacting the rescue team.Finding no routes within our radar, we decided to stay where we are.We decided not to panic and make no fuss and let the rescue team find us.We explained them on phone our landmark and by that time it was getting dark. The sun was going down and darkness was getting higher, to see ourselves we needed to burn some fire.We gathered a bunch of dry leaves that looked ochre, but couldn’t burn them, as there was no smoker.Sitting there around we felt welp, and were hoping that the police will surely help.Thinking that we will have to spend all night there, there were quite a few out burst, but even they couldn’t scream as we were dying with thirst. After a depressing hour we finally felt great, when the rescue team arrived in the evening at 8.They showed us the path and took us down to a village, and first time in my life drinking water seemed a privilege. We asked the police let us go soon and let us catch the earliest train, No the said them, our requests were all vane.We found that they could’ve rescued an hour earlier too, but they waited for media to come and take their interview.I had never seen such kind of shamus, who are praise thirsty and just want to be famous.I felt like I should spank them, but they had helped us getting off the mountain and had to thank them.I thought this even will soon get diffuse, but the next day we were the news. But whatever happened I’m glad it went that way, It was surely a memorable day.
